Our Commitment

Designed and built to be one of the first carbon-neutral luxury communities in the world, we have carefully considered every detail in our efforts to limit human impact on this pristine environment. Built in the Balinese tradition by Balinese craftsmen using only sustainable building materials, Emerald Monkey is a leader in environmental responsibility. Electricity is provided by the country´s largest hydro-electric power plant. A biomass septic system discharges water that is safe for irrigation of property grounds. Potable water is gravity-fed to the community from fresh natural springs located in the Panamanian mountains. All-on-island transportation is by solar-powered Monkey Buggies, and community pools utilize saltwater, lightly filtered, from the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea.
